Bills Push Homosexual Indoctrination in our Public Schools

Two bills before our General Assembly are a very real and present threat to marriage as we know it—THE UNION OF A MAN AND A WOMAN. The first is misleadingly called the Healthy Youth Act (HB 88) and would open the door to teaching children in public school sex education classes that "committed relationships" (i.e. same-sex relationships) are equivalent to marriage.

Four Committees—The Speaker needs to hear about it!

Despite the cold weather and icy roads, over 4,000 marriage supporters gathered on the grounds of the State Capital on Tuesday, March 3, to show their support for a bill that would give the voters of the State the opportunity to include the statutory definition of marriage in our State Constitution. The main speakers, David Gibbs III of the Christian Law Foundation and David Barton of Wallbuilders, talked about the threats posed by judicial activism that has occurred in other states where marriage laws have been overturned for the sole reason that they did not allow same-sex couples to marry.

RALLY FOR MARRIAGE ON MARCH 3rd!

On Tuesday, March 3, we will meet on the Halifax Mall between the two Legislative Buildings to express to our elected representatives our desire that they pass the Defense of Marriage Act and allow us the opportunity to vote on a Marriage Protection Amendment on the November ballot.  Be there at 11:00 am to express your support for marriage.  Don't let the cold weather keep you away.

Looking for a Leader Who Will Champion Marriage

After Tuesday's Press Conference announcing the introduction of the Defense of Marriage Act in both the NC House and Senate, legislators have a new respect for this grassroots movement that brought about 200 supporters and over 40 pastors, priests, and bishops to the halls of the General Assembly to show their support for marriage. Seeing all those marriage supporters in the Legislative Building of every race and denomination was a showing of solidarity.

Do We Need It?

Convincing the leaders of our General Assembly to let the people vote on the Marriage Protection Amendment does not seem to be an easy task, even though more than 70% of us agree on passing it. So what's the problem with our leaders? They believe the current North Carolina Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) is sufficient to protect the State from an attack on marriage in our courts. Yeah right; just like California's and Iowa's DOMAs were enough to protect them from redefinition of marriage by their courts.

Press Conference February 24

Come on down to the General Assembly and join us on February 24th at 12:30 pm for a Press Conference that will be the opening event for passing the Marriage Amendment! Legislators will announce introduction of the Marriage Protection Amendment bills.

Sponsor the Marriage Amendment bill!

Time is drawing nigh for legislators to add their names to the growing list of other legislators who are co-sponsoring the Marriage Amendment bill. Only a few days are left! If your legislators really believe in protecting marriage, their names will be on the Senate bill and the House bill as a co-sponsor. If their names aren't on the bills, you should question their commitment to traditional marriage.

Ask Your Legislators to Do What is Right!

Many legislators are signing up to sponsor the Marriage Protection Amendment when the bills are introduced next week in the General Assembly. These are the legislators who do what is right because it is right...regardless of the consequences.

Asleep at The Wheel

Leaders in our General Assembly appear to be "asleep at the wheel" when it comes to protecting the most fundamental building block of our society. They are concerned about things like outlawing text messaging while driving, operation of mopeds, special license plates for certain favored groups (like Arts NC, Soccer, Carolina's Golf Association, ad infinitum), and (of all things) extending their own legislative terms!
